The Deplorable Mindset of Ilya Shapiro

This past week, a series of tweets were made, then deleted, by Georgetown Law professor (currently on administrative leave), Ilya Shapiro, about Joe Biden’s potential Supreme Court nominee.

He then offered a non-apology, without any acknowledgement (or I’m pretty sure, realization) that he was 100% wrong.

Here’s a detailed explanation of just how wrong he is:

The Minority Candidate DOES NOT have an Asterisk and is not “Lesser!”

Asserting that someone who got a job when race was a factor will “always have an asterisk attached,” and claiming that any Black woman chosen for the court would be “lesser” perpetuate the ludicrous myth that when race is part of the decision, somehow standards have to be lowered.
